Teens

While being a teenager is one of the most exciting times of life, it can also be quite difficult and demanding.

Teens experience a variety of stressors including academic expectations, social pressures, and life transitions. These can lead to toxic stress, anxiety, depression, and even self-harm. At a time when youth are pushing for more independence, it can be helpful for them to have a space to develop healthy problem-solving strategies and coping skills.

Maybe your adolescent has experienced a traumatic event.  You've started to notice that it is causing them significant distress which begins to create problems in others areas of their lives. Counseling is a space in which trauma can be processed, skills can be created, and wounds can be healed.

I will work with your teen to develop effective skills while providing a safe space to process and work through the underlying causes that brought them to counseling. We will use their inherent strengths to help them develop and maintain a healthy sense of self to increase resiliency.

I have an extensive history of supporting youth that have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal issues. Using a combination of psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, neuroscience/neurodiversity, Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques to create a space in which adolescents can find comfort, balance, and relief.

Whatever the issue may be, having an unbiased adult to consult with can be youth's and parent's greatest tool to tackle everyday struggles, significant stressors, and concerning mental wellness issues.
